Stradform Gives Girls Insight into Careers in Construction

As part of the CITB-ConstructionSkills initiative, Michelle Davies, Business Development Manager for Cardiff-based Stradform Limited (part of VINCI PLC), has organised a two week work placement for fifteen year old April Davies and Leigh-Anne Jones from St. Cyres Comprehensive School in Penarth.
Michelle is a Construction Ambassador for ConstructionSkills, through which young people are given a real-life perspective of the industry. This national network of ambassadors who already work in the construction industry range from young graduates to experienced workers.
The girls are being given experience of working in both Stradform’s Cardiff office and on site at the £6.8 million Global Reach, Celtic Gateway office project in Cardiff Bay.
Commenting on their experience of the construction industry so far Leigh-Anne said: “The work experience has been much better than I had imagined. It’s given me a real insight into construction and Stradform have made the experience both fun and interesting.” April agreed adding: “It has made me realise the career choices available in construction. I can definitely see myself in a management role of some sort within the industry.”
